Her Excellency, Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow joined her counterpart African First Ladies to participate in another high level side meeting of Ecowas on combating child marriage and promoting girl-child education in West Africa.

The First Lady of Niger, who champions this initiative was surprised by her husband who came to show support with the African First Ladies and went on to announce that there will be a law to ban early marriage in Niger.

The First Lady of Mali delivered the Joint Communique of the conference on the theme, "Combating child Marriage and Promoting Girl-child Education in West Africa".

The Communique calls on all stakeholders to join the fight against this cause, urging the ECOWAS, the AU, developmental partners to lend strong support to their cause.

On her part, the First Lady of Niger, Malika issoufu thanked the government, religious leaders, traditional leaders for their support to the fight against child marriage and supporting the education of girls in Niger.
